Well, thanks for taking the bullet on this one. I suspected it would at best glorify Section 31 and at worst say nothing interesting about Section 31 at all. But it sounds like it’s even worse than that: it’s so bad as to not even be entertaining.
I felt very little temptation to watch Section 31; now, after reading this review, I feel, perhaps, slightly more, entirely in a perverse mode? Still very little overall, so thanks for taking the hits, Adam. (Incidentally: have you already done a deep dive into the whole IDEA of Section 31? Maybe you have and I'm just not remembering. If you haven't, please do; I always thought it was a pretty weak bit of side-plotting in DS9 that never really fit or even entirely made sense, and I'm unconvinced that any of the subsequent treatments of it fit any better.)
Do you think the script was written by an AI? I love using ChatGpt as a tool, but when asked to write complete stories, it fails. I’ve noticed a few movies recently that I would almost guarantee were scripts written by AI, because it was both nonsensical and repetitive. The Rig, Season 2, is almost certainly an AI construct.
For the record, I hate using the term AI to describe these tools because they are NOT artificial intelligence, they are large language models, but that isn’t really the point of this conversation so I’ll hush.
I am a strong AI/LLM opponent, so I would be happy if it was written by AI to discredit it as a tool. But it's more likely they were just tasked with squeezing a season's worth of ideas into a movie.
I appreciate this a lot because I’m halfway through this thing and I wasn’t sure if it was real and I was hallucinating or something. I can’t believe this thing got made. It’s so offensive.
Kudos for watching it all. I decided it was shit after 20 minutes and turned off at the 30 minute mark.

I haven't written anything extended on Section 31. I will probably wait till it comes up organically in my rewatch.

Don't you dare look away from history.
Thank you for your sacrifice.
